Key Benefits of GST Return Filing

Timely and accurate GST return filing ensures compliance, maximizes your Input Tax Credit, avoids penalties, and maintains your business's good standing with the GST department.

Timely Filing (Avoid Penalties)

Late GST return filing attracts heavy penalties — ₹50 per day for GSTR-1 and ₹50 per day for GSTR-3B (₹20 for nil returns). Additionally, late filing reduces your ITC eligibility. Our team ensures your returns are filed well before the due date every month or quarter, so you never miss a deadline and avoid accumulating penalties that can significantly impact your business finances.

ITC Optimization

Input Tax Credit is one of the most significant benefits of GST, but claiming it correctly requires meticulous reconciliation of purchase invoices with supplier returns. Our experts optimize your ITC claims by verifying every purchase invoice, matching with GSTR-2A/2B, ensuring supplier compliance, and identifying any ITC that you may have missed. This directly reduces your tax outflow and improves your cash flow.

GST Reconciliation

GST reconciliation is the process of matching your sales and purchase data across GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-2A, and GSTR-2B to identify any discrepancies. Unreconciled GST data can lead to ITC mismatch, notice from GST authorities, and compliance issues. Our team performs detailed reconciliation every month to ensure your books are accurate and all tax credits are properly claimed.

E-Way Bill Management

E-Way Bills are mandatory for the movement of goods exceeding ₹50,000 in value. Incorrect or missing e-way bills can lead to goods being detained during transit and hefty penalties. Our team handles e-way bill generation, extension, and cancellation, ensuring every shipment complies with GST rules. We integrate e-way bill management with your sales and dispatch data for seamless compliance.

GST Return Filing Process in 4 Steps

Our streamlined GST return filing process ensures timely and accurate submissions every month or quarter. We handle everything from data collection to compliance reporting.

1

Sales/Purchase Data Collection

Our GST consultant collects your complete sales and purchase data for the filing period. This includes all sales invoices, purchase invoices, credit/debit notes, e-commerce sales data, and import documents. We accept data in any format — Excel, PDF, images, or accounting software exports. Our team organizes and categorizes all data for accurate return preparation.

2

Return Preparation

Once all data is collected, our team prepares your GST returns by categorizing sales into B2B, B2C, inter-state, intra-state, export, and e-commerce categories. We reconcile purchase data with GSTR-2A/2B to ensure full ITC eligibility, compute tax liability, and verify all input tax credits. The draft return is shared with you for review and approval before filing.

3

Filing on GST Portal

After your approval, our team files the completed GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B on the official GST portal (www.gst.gov.in). We ensure all data is accurately entered, tax computations are correct, and ITC claims are properly validated. The acknowledgment number is generated immediately upon successful filing and shared with you for your records.

4

Acknowledgment & Compliance Report

Post filing, we provide a comprehensive compliance report including filing acknowledgment, tax paid summary, ITC claimed details, and any compliance alerts or recommendations for the next period. We also generate and manage e-way bills if required and set reminders for upcoming filing deadlines to ensure you never miss a return in the future.

Frequently Asked Questions About GST Returns

Find answers to the most common questions about GST return filing, GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, ITC, penalties, and compliance requirements.

What is GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B?
GSTR-1 is a monthly/quarterly return that contains details of all outward supplies (sales) made by a registered taxpayer. It includes B2B invoices, B2C sales, credit/debit notes, and export details. GSTR-3B is a simplified monthly return where taxpayers declare their summarized GST liability after adjusting for Input Tax Credit (ITC). It is a self-assessed return where you declare your output tax, claim ITC, and pay the net tax liability. Both returns are mandatory for regular GST taxpayers.
What is the penalty for late filing of GST returns?
The penalty for late filing of GST returns is ₹50 per day per return (₹20 per day for nil returns) for GSTR-3B and GSTR-1. This means if you file both returns 30 days late, the total penalty is ₹3,000 (₹50 x 30 x 2 returns). Additionally, late filing of GSTR-3B restricts your ITC eligibility — you can only claim ITC after filing the return. For businesses with high tax liability, this can result in significant cash flow issues.
What is ITC under GST?
Input Tax Credit (ITC) under GST allows registered businesses to claim credit for the tax paid on their purchases (inputs) and use it to offset their output tax liability. ITC can be claimed on goods and services used for business purposes, including raw materials, capital goods, input services, and imports. However, ITC cannot be claimed on personal expenses, goods used for exempt supplies, blocked items under Section 17(5), and if the supplier has not filed their returns.
How often should I file GST returns?
Regular GST taxpayers must file GSTR-1 (outward supplies) and GSTR-3B (tax payment) every month, typically by the 11th and 20th of the following month respectively. Small taxpayers with turnover up to ₹5 crores can opt for QRMP (Quarterly Return Monthly Payment) scheme and file GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B quarterly. GSTR-9 (annual return) must be filed once a year by December 31st. Failing to file for consecutive months can lead to cancellation of GST registration.
